CHAPTER FOURTEEN

It was a squealing fest as Jenny hugged her friends. Not only had Selena and Kylessa come, but they’d brought Katie as well. She was surprised to see Katie, given the woman knew nothing about Jenny’s new life as a goddess.

Katie was petite and pale with strawberry-blond hair and large blue eyes. Her rose-gold glitter dress had Jenny feeling underdressed, but then Katie always wore exactly what she wanted with no apologies, and Jenny loved it.

Selena and Kylessa, by comparison, were dressed in jeans. Selena’s were pale and ripped. She wore a cut-up crop top and had her long, dark hair in a fashionable high, sleek ponytail. She’d paired it with a crisp white blazer and matching heels. She’d always looked like a runway model.

Kylessa had cut her dark curls short, just long enough to be tucked behind her ears. Her belly shirt was maroon and matched her cool boots.

“Oh, Katie, I’m so sorry that I flaked on you again.” Jenny had vanished not once but twice on Katie. The first time had been at Katie’s party, and the second had been while Jenny had been planning a movie night.

Katie shook her head and smiled up at Jenny. “I didn’t know you were pregnant! Now I see why you didn’t drink at my party. Selena told me everything about how you were at a medical facility and people were monitoring the babies.”

That was true. She had been at a medical facility, and the babies were monitored.

Katie touched her stomach. “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine. Everyone’s fine.” She hugged Katie again.

Selena had thought up the perfect excuse.

She looked back at the private strip where Nick stood next to the private plane her friends had come in on, talking to the pilot and a few crew members walking around. “Thank you for letting Katie come.”

Her mate looked over at her and smiled. “You’re welcome.” Then he winked before he turned back to the people working on the airstrip.

She’d kissed him, but that didn’t mean she was over the fact that he was keeping something from her. But they’d agreed that they’d talk about it later, so for now, she let it go.

The girls had flown in, and Jenny wondered if they knew where they were. She was still clueless herself.

It would be hard for a human to see the landscape in the dark, but Jenny could see everything. Past the strip and the barbed walls, the desert seemed endless. They could be anywhere from California to Arizona, and that was if they were still in America. Jenny hadn’t traveled much, so she wasn’t sure.

“How long was the flight?” Jenny asked.

“Long, but amazing! I could have stayed in the sky forever,” Katie cried. “There was champagne, and the food was so good. The seats were leather and heated. The staff was wonderful.” She sighed longingly.

Selena giggled. “Makes it hard to even consider going back to commercial flights, huh?”

Katie groaned. Jenny smiled. Her men were spoiling her and her friends. She didn’t mind.

Selena looped an arm over Jenny’s shoulder.
